Creating good rewards

Creating rewards for employees who show positive security behaviours

Why use rewards?

Adding rewards that your employees can redeem with their security credits is a great way to get employees excited about cyber security and CultureAI.

Getting employees to engage with new software platforms can sometimes be difficult, giving your employees something to look for is a good way to get them to log in to their security centre and start interacting with the content in there.

Reward ideas

There are lots of different rewards you could add to CultureAI for your employees to redeem. Depending on your company, internal policies and the sort of culture you have, you may want to use different kinds of rewards.

Smaller rewards

If you want to keep rewards small and simple, these could be things like;

  • Bars of chocolate
  • £5 Amazon vouchers
  • A drink from Starbucks

Smaller rewards like this are easier for your team to keep track of, this means you're able to offer more of them without causing extra workloads for the team who's keeping an eye on them. You can set them at a lower redemption rate, so your employees feel like they're achievable.

Bigger/'top prize' rewards

You can also offer higher-level rewards, these are great to give your employees something to work towards. We have some examples below that we've seen clients have success using;

  • An extra holiday day - This is a great 'top prize' you can offer as a reward. An extra day off is something that can apply to all your employees, which makes the reward feel accessible and desirable.
  • Lunch vouchers - If you have an in-office canteen or a popular spot for lunch near your office, offering out a voucher for a free meal is a great reward. Who doesn't like free food?
  • Travel/Parking vouchers - If you have a paid car park that your employees use, you could offer a week of free parking as a reward. Similarly, if you'd like to be eco-conscious or add onto an ongoing green commute programme you're running, you can turn this into a week's paid bus or train ticket to work.
  • Day-out tickets - If you have a popular day-out location near you, such as a theme park or a zoo, you could offer a couple of paid tickets as a prize.
Bigger prizes that cost more credits to redeem give employees a goal post to run towards. They will be checking in to their security centre more regularly to check their credit level, and to see what they can do to earn more.

None-monetary rewards

If you're not able to offer monetary or physical rewards, there are still plenty of things you can use instead!

  • Certificates - Making up a few 'security champion' certificates is a nice and simple way to offer recognition to employees who are doing well. You could even create a few levels of certificates, giving your employees a 'collect them all' goal to work towards.
  • Wall of fame - Set up a dedicated spot on your office wall, where employees can use their credits to purchase a place on using their credits. You could have this change monthly, or set a few spots that employees can purchase depending on the size of your company.
  • Choose the next - If you run trivia or game team-building activities, you could allow a user who redeems the prize to choose the next trivia topic, or game that you all play. This gets employees personally involved with your team-building activities and can help to create some healthy competition to get to the prize first.
  • Ask the CEO - Set up a monthly "Ask me anything" question time with your CEO or other upper management members of your company. This can be a chance for employees to ask some fun questions and get to know your company's senior management.

None-monetary rewards like the above offer something different to your employees, you can weave these rewards into your existing company culture to unify everything together, they can encourage further interaction and connection with your business.
